Dan Duncan, Owner and CEO of Cobalt Truck Equipment

Dan Duncan

Owner and CEO

Dan Duncan is the Owner and CEO of Cobalt Truck Equipment. Dan and two partners started Cobalt in December of 1995 when they purchased the assets of Truck Equipment Corp. located in Meridian, ID. Dan has been in the equipment business his entire life. Starting 40 years ago, Dan began in the agriculture business, where he spent 15 years in Oregon, Idaho, and Colorado. He worked as the "shop helper" doing anything and everything needed from cleaning, assembling, and delivering equipment and then worked his way through as shop technician, parts man, and then into sales in 1984. In 1989, Dan moved to Boise and began his sales career in the construction equipment industry. His dream of becoming a business owner came true in 1995 with the creation of Idaho Truck Specialties, which ultimately was rebranded to Cobalt Truck Equipment. It has been his dream come true to watch the small company with 1 location and 13 employees grow to what it is today with 4 locations and over 100 employees. Dan and his wife, Cori, have a deep passion for the outdoors and are avid motorcycle, UTV, and snowmobile enthusiasts.

Philip Haynes, COO of Cobalt Truck Equipment

COO

Philip Haynes joined Cobalt Truck in September 2020 as an accomplished industry executive who has led or been a part of successful business turnarounds since 2004. He has worked internationally in Europe, Asia, and the Americas in automotive, commercial trucks, specialty vehicles, telecom, and data management for public and private ventures. He has spent most of his career in the power electronics sector and has extensive experience with overseas supply chains, production and inventory systems, design, program management and, Lean/Six Sigma techniques. He most recently guided the sale of his former company and its integration with a global Lithium-ion battery provider. Philip earned his MBA and BS from the University of New Mexico. He served in the United States Navy and is an avid private pilot today.

Steve Higley, VP of Operations of Cobalt Truck Equipment

Steve Higley

VP of Operations

Steve Higley joined Cobalt Truck Equipment in December of 1995 as Sales Manager. After working five years in this position, he was promoted to Operations Manager and eventually to Vice President of Operations.

As Vice President of Operations, he oversees the Branch Managers of four locations and the Corporate Purchasing and Materials Management departments. His goal is to work daily to help support the building of a product for the company that customers will appreciate the value of and have the desire to purchase for many years to come.

Outside of work, Steve enjoys spending time in the great outdoors trekking through Idaho's deserts and mountains with family and friends.

Phil Estburg, VP of Sales & Product Design of Cobalt Truck Equipment

Phil Estberg

VP of Sales & Product Design

As VP of Sales and Product Design, Phil oversees the Sales, Marketing, and Product Design teams. With his 32+ years of experience in the Truck Equipment Industry, Phil is able to provide guidance and vision for improvement in all aspects of the company. Phil started his career at 17 as a welder and technician. Since joining Cobalt Truck Equipment in 1995, he has held positions in Inside Sales, Territory Manager, Technical Design and his current role as VP of Sales and Product Design.

Away from work, Phil enjoys spending time exploring the outdoors with his wife.

April Kierstead, Controller of Cobalt Truck Equipment

April Kierstead

Controller

April Kierstead is very proud to have been the Controller at Cobalt Truck Equipment and at the helm of the Accounting Department for over 20 years. She has helped see the company through the opening of new branches and the rough times during the recession.

April’s love of accounting has its roots in finding solutions to problems. The most rewarding part of her role is helping others and smooth the path to keep the business moving forward. She claims to be able to leap medium to small buildings at a single bound.

Outside of work, April most enjoys time with her family, gardening, and audiobooks. Her favorite place in the world is somewhere next to the ocean.

Joe Matteucci, Corporate Service Manager of Cobalt Truck Equipment

Corporate Service Manager

Joe Matteucci joined the Cobalt team in April of 2016 with a diverse background in the Commercial HVAC & Semiconductor Industries and Construction Management. He went to San Diego City College Trade school and worked as a technician in the Commercial HVAC field and quickly advanced his experience as an achieved Project Manager, Service Manager, Sales Manager, and Operations Manager for Fortune 500 Companies in the Commercial HVAC Market. Joe mainly worked with Tennant Improvement, New Construction, and Design for large Central Plants and High-Pressure steam boilers for Pharmaceutical, Medical, Production and Semi-conductor industries. He partnered with local power companies, performing energy studies for Lead Certification involving new controls systems, lighting, and HVAC. Joe is a proud father of two kids and enjoys coaching competitive soccer, fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time with family when he is not tinkering around the homestead.

Jessica Wallace, Human Resources Manager of Cobalt Truck Equipment

Human Resources Manager

Jessica Wallace serves as Cobalt's Human Resource Manager and has spent over nine years with the company. Jessica began her finance and accounting career and worked for several businesses in CA and ID before coming to Cobalt. Her previous work experience allowed her to see and work with several departmental functions and business operations,, which gives her a unique perspective in her HR role. As Human Resource Manager, Jessica is excited about improving the Company's personnel systems, policies, practices, and programs with the goal of making Cobalt one of the best employers to work for. Outside of work, Jessica is immensely proud of her three children and makes them her priority. She enjoys sunshine and beautiful places, riding UTVs, fishing, reading, and arts & crafts.
